IPL Lumecca
Lumecca is a powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to improve skin tone and clarity by targeting pigmentation and vascular lesions. It is used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea, and spider veins, and can be applied to any part of the body.
Results are often visible after just one to two sessions, with improvements appearing as targeted spots darken and then flake away.
What Lumecca IPL treatment is and does
Technology: Unlike a laser, which uses a single wavelength of light, Lumecca uses flashes of light with many different wavelengths to penetrate the skin.
Mechanism: The light is absorbed by pigment cells (melanin) and hemoglobin in the blood vessels, which converts the light energy into heat. This heat destroys the unwanted pigment and closes off the vessels.
Collagen stimulation: As a bonus, the treatment also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, leading to general skin rejuvenation.

What to expect
Treatment time: Sessions are typically quick, often lasting 15 to 30 minutes.
Sensation: The feeling is often described as a light snap or warm flick on the skin.
Results
Initial darkening: Brown spots will often appear darker immediately after treatment.
Flaking: These dark spots will then flake off over the next several days, revealing clearer skin underneath.
Vascular lesions: Improvements may be immediate for some vein issues, while others may darken first and then resolve within about two weeks.
Number of treatments: You may need 1 to 3 sessions for significant improvement, depending on the concern. Treatments are typically spaced 3 to 6 weeks apart.
Maintenance: A single maintenance treatment every 6 to 12 months is often recommended to maintain results.
Important considerations
Lumecca can be used on any part of the body, with the face, neck, décolletage, arms, and legs being common treatment areas.
Daily use of sunscreen is essential to protect the skin and maximize results after treatment.
